Kayla Nguyen is an undergraduate student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill studying Public Policy. She is deeply invested in understanding the intentions and outcomes of public systems, with a particular focus on how the private sector can support criminal justice and urban planning, specifically public transportation initiatives. Through both research and hands-on philanthropic work, Kayla explores how personal experience informs our understanding of these systems' effectiveness, especially for the communities they aim to serve.

Kayla has experience across a breadth of industries. Most recently, She has conducted research on the North Carolina death penalty at UNC, engaged in advocacy through her internship at the North Carolina Coalition for Alternatives to the Death Penalty, and worked in tech and AI through her fellowship position at the Paragon Policy Fellowship.
