Launched in 2016, Connecting Communities in the Americas (CCA) provides the unique opportunity for community foundations and support organizations to connect around issues and concerns that affect us all but may look different in each place. Over 200 organizations, including 150 community foundations across 11 countries, have participated in the initiative.

Public Equity Group helped CCA revamp their governance structure, led by a new Steering Committee made up of funders and community foundation networks in Canada, Mexico and the U.S. PEG also supported CCA in gathering input from a Planning Team comprised of community foundation representatives, researchers, funders, philanthropy serving organizations and others committed to CCA’s mission.

PEG’s strategic planning work was highlighted in the newsletter:

“We have completed our work with the Public Equity Group on CCA’s new strategic plan and structure. This strategic planning process led to a commitment for CCA to continue deepening the impact of the groundbreaking work that it has already started. Together, we will continue to strengthen relationships with transnational communities within our own communities and build relationships across borders.

As part of this work, CCA has a new governance structure. Our new Steering Committee (previously called the Coordination Team) is made up of funders and community foundation networks in Canada, Mexico and the U.S.

CCA will also continue to seek the advice and input of a Planning Team comprised of community foundation representatives, researchers, funders, philanthropy serving organizations and others committed to CCA’s mission to build stronger, smarter and more resilient communities throughout the Americas by enhancing the effectiveness of community foundations’ responsiveness to them.”
